About Me

Hi, I'm Racquel. I was born in Jamaica and came to the United States at 5 years old and was raised in The Bronx, NY.  My mom was a single parent of 6 children who persevered and became a nurse in New York City. Growing up as a immigrant was challenging as I had to navigate two worlds, with the outside being American but inside our home being Jamaican, complete with rice and peas and stew chicken every Sunday.

I was always the one my friends would come to talk to about whatever problems they would have, so you could say I've been a counselor since I was 10.

I'm a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. I thought I wanted to be a fashion magazine editor, but realized that path wasn't for me. I'm also a graduate of Hunter College School of Social Work in New York City with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. I am a warm and compassionate  psychotherapist who provides culturally competent therapy with an emphasis on mental health for the Black community. I love the work that I do and I feel honored to help the people who chose me as their therapist.

Most of my clients come to me seeking help for anxiety, depression, racial  trauma, postpartum depression and anxiety, binge eating and body dysmorphia. If any of this sounds familiar to you, please reach out,  and together we can work towards the change you deserve to help you to lead a more fulfilling and happy life.

In addition to being a therapist, I love writing, reading, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, listening to music especially Prince, Beyonce, Lil Kim , Megan thee Stallion and Rihanna and dancing. I also will occasionally tell people to "kiss mi bottom", lol.  I look forward to helping you to shut down your inner critic and live your best life.

" I don't stand outside 'cause I'm too outstandin' (ah)
'Cause the girls in the hood are always hard
Ever since sixteen, I been havin' a job
Knowin' nothin' in life, but I gotta get rich
You could check the throwback pics, I been that bitch (ah)" – Megan thee Stallion

"I'm a savage (yeah) Classy, bougie, ratchet (yeah) "- Megan thee Stallion
